This is me starting what is considered intermittent fasting. Today is marking the first day of my journey. I am going to try to stick with this for the next four months or six months to see if it has any health benefits as well as if it increases my energy.
I researched several of the different ways that you can do intermittent fasting. What I’m going to start with is the 16:8, where you will have 16 hours of fasting and then you will have an 8-hour window of eating. My schedule is ridiculous. One day, I’m working from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The next day I might be working from 2:00 to 6:00 or 2:00 to 7:00 and then the next day another thing. So, what I decided was that it would be important that I be consistent with those 16 hours of fasting, however, be flexible with the eight hours.
That’s my method of starting. Some of the benefits that I would like to see is that I would like to see a decrease of the likelihood that I will be diabetic. I have put on some weight and I want to make sure that I’m focused on the priority being diabetes, not weight. One of the goals is for me to consistently put my body into a state where it’s actually creating health from the inside out. My 16:8 rule starts from 2:00 PM and it actually will start from 2:30 to 10:30 because of my hours in the late evenings.
Some of the benefits that I’m really looking for mostly is, preventing as much as possible diabetes, some cognitive benefits in terms of concentration and focus and an improvement in energy.
The first day has been a little exhausting. However, we’ll see if that improves. If you want to join me, feel free. If not, I’ll let you know how it goes. Be well.
